EHRS is conducting a controlled substance disposal event on Temple Main and Health Science Campuses on May 8th, 2024. This event is designed to encourage registrants to dispose of outdated/unwanted controlled substances being housed on Temple University Campuses. All university employees who have a current DEA registration and have an EHRS Controlled Substances Registration Form on file are welcome to participate. EHRS staff will be available at the event to answer any questions and provide additional information for the safe disposal of controlled substances.
The EHRS department will be covering all costs related to the disposal event. To ensure success, EHRS will need participants to provide key information. If you do not have a current registration form with EHRS please complete and submit the online form to [click-for-email].
Instructions to participate in the event:
- All participants MUST have a current DEA registration. AND All participants MUST have a current Controlled Substances Registration Form (on file) with EHRS.
- A Controlled Substance Disposal Request form must be completed electronically and submitted to EHRS. Forms must be forwarded electronically to EHRS or Sean Kovacs before Friday April 26th, 2024. if you wish to participate.
- After the Controlled Substance Disposal Request form has been reviewed, we will release a sign-up sheet. We are asking attendees to sign up for a 10-minute time slot.
- On the day of event, bring the controlled substances to designated campus location at your registered time. The substances will be transferred to Temple University’s licensed reverse distributor, and they will be shipped off site for disposal at the conclusion of the event.

- Copies of the transfer documents will be provided to each registrant as documentation of disposal. These documents must be maintained in your DEA file for a minimum of 2 years.
