Office of the Fire Marshal
The Office of the Fire Marshal is dedicated to providing top-notch professional services to ensure a safe environment for the entire University community. Our mission includes the prevention, identification, and rectification of safety hazards across all campuses.
Principal Functions and Responsibilities
- Maintain certification for all fixed and portable fire protection systems
- Conduct thorough building inspections for fire and occupational hazards
- Act as the liaison with local building and fire inspectors
- Investigate the causes of fires and respond to odor complaints
- Administer the Emergency Action Plan
- Keep the Residence Hall Fire Log up to date
- Coordinate elevator safety, modernization, and maintenance
- Identify, control, and abate asbestos
- Ensure compliance with all local fire codes
- Provide fire safety training and conduct fire drills
- Oversee evacuation procedures
- Manage the Fire Prevention Plan
