Office of the Fire Marshal

The Office of the Fire Marshal is dedicated to providing top-notch professional services to ensure a safe environment for the entire University community. Our mission includes the prevention, identification, and rectification of safety hazards across all campuses.

Principal Functions and Responsibilities

  • Maintain certification for all fixed and portable fire protection systems
  • Conduct thorough building inspections for fire and occupational hazards
  • Act as the liaison with local building and fire inspectors
  • Investigate the causes of fires and respond to odor complaints
  • Administer the Emergency Action Plan
  • Keep the Residence Hall Fire Log up to date
  • Coordinate elevator safety, modernization, and maintenance
  • Identify, control, and abate asbestos
  • Ensure compliance with all local fire codes
  • Provide fire safety training and conduct fire drills
  • Oversee evacuation procedures
  • Manage the Fire Prevention Plan
